Fast Food Nation Entry 2

When you’re growing up meals and family go together.  You come home from school turn on the TV and a couple hours later your Mom calls you in for dinner.  Later in life, when you move out of the nest things change.  Meals used to be a daily planned event, they happened at general times every day and for the most part I took them for granted.  Now my family has been replaced with a girlfriend, two cats and a lizard.  The meals are now up to me and my girlfriend Niki to provide ourselves and pets with something to eat.
Usually we don’t have much time to go food shopping and prepare food.  So most of the time we end up ordering out, eating at work or school when we are not home.  We usually end up eating our final meal together at the end of the day when both of us finally make it home.  Cooking is becoming a rare treat which only occurs during the weekend nowadays with both of us being so busy.  What I consider cooking is putting a prepared meal in the oven for whatever time the box says, but when Niki cook’s she either takes a recipe she finds online or from my mother and starts from scratch. Sometimes if I’m lucky enough she makes something that her grandmother showed her how to make and those dishes are of Puerto Rican descent.
In conclusion I love food, but with my recent life changes I’m forced to eat when and wherever I have a chance. Thanks LaGuardia!
